Who controls the funds in a STABLE account?
The Eligible Individual is considered the account owner. However, anyone who is selected by the eligible individual with legal capacity, anyone who has Power of Attorney, a conservator or legal guardian, a spouse, parent, sibling, grandparent, or a representative payee (individual or organization), in that order of priority, can act as an Authorized Legal Representative (also known as an ALR) and administer the account. Be advised that if you decide to act as an ALR, you will be formally assigned to the individual's account and will be the only person allowed to transact on the account.
